  • EFFECT OF SUPPLEMENTATION OF ATTRACTANTS TO DIETS ON FEEDING BEHAVIOR AND GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF WHITE SHRIMP (LITOPENAEUS VANNAMEI)

This study evaluated effect of supplementation of attractants i.e. Luctarom Fish L and Luctarom Umami to diets containing lower fishmeal (FM) on feeding behavior and growth performance of white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Shrimps weighted 4g were stocked in 25 glass aquaria (240L, 50 shrimps/m3), fed following diets for 15d (n=5): 30%FM control, 15%FM control, 15%FM control plus 0.1% Luctarom Fish L and 0.1%, 0.3% or 0.5% Luctarom Umami in Trial 1; and 30%FM control, 7.5%FM control, 7.5%FM control plus above various Luctarom supplements in Trial 2. From the study it was found that there was no difference (P>0.05) on survival rate, feeding behavior and growth performance among the groups except for the observed feed intake in Trial 1 and the feed conversion ratio (FCR) in Trial 2. Supplementation of Luctarom Fish L and 0.5% Luctarom Umami to 15%FM diet even increased feed intake equivalent to 30%FM control, which were larger (P<0.05) than 15%FM control. The supplementations to 7.5%FM diet improved FCR to a level equivalent to 30%FM control, which were better (P<0.05) than 7.5%FM control. In conclusion, supplementation of Luctarom Fish L and Luctarom Umami to lower FM diets is beneficial to shrimp production through improving feed intake or FCR. tech.service@fad.com
